Volunteering as a Timer at RFHS Swim Meets
Being a timer is extremely simple and really fun. Essentially, we are back-up timers. A pair of timers is assigned to each of our poolÕs 8 lanes, using stopwatches just in case the electronic touchpad system fails.
1) Show up at the pool deck about ½ hour before the meet begins, wearing clothing that wonÕt be harmed if it gets splashed during the evening. It can get warm on deck.
2) YouÕll be given a stopwatch or a clipboard and shown how and when to start and stop the timers, record the times, and turn in the slips. Super easy.
3) Consider bringing your child (10 or older) to help. TheyÕll be a part of the action and may even be inspired by watching the older kids in a real meet.
4) Meets usually begin at 6:30 pm, so plan to come about 6:00 and be finished between 8:30 and 9:00pm.
